The couple was identified as beneficiaries through the community leadership as both are well advanced in age and are no longer gainfully employed.
Beginning on 20 June 2016, they received 4 hens and one cork and as of 13 June 2017 at the time of the evaluation, there was a total of 201 chickens at his household.
He applauded and praised Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre and its sponsors for the project, especially the more than 10 training sessions he had attended that helped him to view the indigenous chicken rearing project as a business and source of livelihood.
Mr Mutandwa said that currently, he sells between 7-10 chickens a month, so this means that besides a healthy diet, he is now able to realize some income to cover some of his day-to-day needs as well as manure for his garden.
In his own words he said, “if Fambidzanai was not there, we would be struggling!”
