Unlocking the Potential of the Rural Agric Industry through Improved Water Infrastructure

Improving rural water infrastructure and watershed management is key in unlocking community capacity to establish and sustain the rural agriculture industry.

This is Tagarirwa community nutrition garden in Nhedziwa (Chimanimani district, ward 7), a testament of how improved water infrastructure in rural communities can go a long way in ensuring community access to food and income every day.

The garden is a product of the @GlobalWaterPartnershipSouthernAfrica and FPC’s water infrastructure development initiative. Through the initiative, A 2-hectare nutrition garden with reliable and accessible irrigation water was established. The garden caters for at least 52 families around Nhedziwa.
The initiative resonates well with the government of Zimbabwe’s agenda of living no one and no place behind. It also complements the rural development agenda where the government is working towards drilling 3 000 boreholes across Zimbabwe’s rural landscape.
