Position: MEAL Assistant
Organisation: Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC)
Duty Station: Harare with frequent travel out of Harare

Duration: 1 year (renewable based on availability of funds)

Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC) is a local NGO promoting agroecology, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and community development through farmer-centred approaches. FPC anticipates implementing a project focused on strengthening community resilience, sustainable agriculture, and agroecological production systems. In preparation for the project’s commencement, FPC invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and committed candidates to fill the position of MEAL Assistant. This role is based in Harare, with frequent travel to various project sites.

Overal Role

The MEAL Assistant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive MEAL systems and frameworks to track project performance, assess impact, and support evidence-based decision-making for FPC projects.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design results-based management, monitoring, and evaluation systems for projects
  • Developed data collection tools, monitoring and evaluation plans, and logical frameworks/models
  • Conduct routine field monitoring visits to identify lessons learnt, document success stories, best practices, and develop case studies
  • Conduct baselines, mid-term, endline surveys, impact assessments & evaluations
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret quantitative & qualitative data to guide decision-making
  • Conduct data quality assessments, quality checks, data cleaning, verification, and validation.
  • Lead the preparation of technical documents, including M&E, organizational, and donor reports
  • Maintain updated indicator trackers, project-based databases, and dashboards
  • Train and capacity building the project staff on monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Participate in organisational fundraising efforts

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or related field
  • A master’s degree in the above field is an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience in designing MEAL systems to improve the impact and quality of sustainable agriculture, climate change, livelihoods, and natural resources management interventions
  • Previous experience in donor-funded projects is an added advantage

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SPSS, Stata, NVivo, Kobo Toolbox, and other data entry and analysis packages
  • Basic data Visualization-knowledge of Power BI or Tableau
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Team player with the ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills
  • Must have a clean Class 4 driver’s licence
