Position: 2 X Field Officers
Organisation: Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC)
Duty Station: Nyaminyami and Mbire Districts

Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC) is a local NGO promoting agroecology, sustainable livelihoods, climate resilience, and community development through farmer-centred approaches. FPC is preparing to implement a project in the Nyaminyami and Mbire districts, focusing on strengthening community resilience, sustainable agriculture, and agroecological production systems. In anticipation of the project’s launch, FPC invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and committed candidates to fill the positions of Field Officers based in these districts.

Job Purpose

The Field Officer will be responsible for the implementation of project activities at community level, supporting farmers and community structures to adopt agroecological practices, strengthen local production systems, and enhance livelihoods in line with FPC’s agroecology-based development approach.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate community mobilisation, engagement, and participation in project activities
  • Support farmers in the adoption and scaling of agroecological farming practices
  • Establish, support, and monitor demonstration plots and farmer learning sites
  • Provide continuous extension support and technical backstopping to farmers
  • Support formation and strengthening of community groups, CBUs and VBUs
  • Coordinate training sessions, field days, exchange visits, and community meetings
  • Collect, document, and report project data, success stories, and lessons learnt
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes
  • Ensure inclusion, gender sensitivity, and community ownership in all interventions
  • Represent FPC at community and ward-level platforms when required
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator/Team Leader

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Agriculture or related field (minimum requirement)
  • At least two (2) years’ practical experience in agroecology and community-based agricultural development
  • Experience working with smallholder farmers in rural settings
  • Strong understanding of participatory development approaches
  • Experience in community mobilisation and facilitation

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently in remote rural settings
  • Good interpersonal and community engagement skills
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural community environment
  • Commitment to community development and agroecological principles

Special Requirements

  • Must have clean class 4 licence.
  • Must be willing and able to ride a motorcycle as a primary mode of transport in the field
  • Willingness to stay and work in remote rural areas
  • High levels of integrity, humility, and respect for community processes
