Nkosi Ncube and Siphiwe Ncube of Silozwe village in Matobo, ward 16, beaming broad smiles of ignited hope for a bountiful farming season this year.


After a record high drought last season, most farmers in Matobo incurred severe crop, livestock and seed losses.
Trocaire in Zimbabwe and Fambidzanai have stepped in to rejuvenate hope and resilience to some of the affected households. The partnership’s efforts do not only seek to provide immediate relief but also pave the way for household food self-sufficiency through traditional grain production.
Meanwhile, about 700ha of land are currently covered with the lush green traditional grains like millet, sorghum, ground and round nuts, cowpeas, and sugar beans.

This incredible initiative supports Zimbabwe’s national target of producing 1.2 million tonnes of traditional grain this season. Here’s to achieving the national target of 1.2 million tonnes of traditional grain this season!
