About the Project
The Youth Empowerment in Harare South project aims to create dignified lives and decent livelihoods for young people in marginalized communities. ActionAid Zimbabwe, in partnership with Fambidzanai Permaculture, is working to enhance youth agency, improve resilience, and promote rights and dignity through sustainable agriculture and agroecology.
Scope of Cooperation
Fambidzanai Permaculture provides technical leadership in establishing and managing poultry and horticulture projects, including:
- Deployment of a full-time Agroecology Technician to support project implementation
- Community needs assessments to identify opportunities and gaps
- Design of context-specific poultry and horticulture initiatives
- Development of a training curriculum and handbook on agroecology best practices
- Hands-on training for youth in poultry rearing and horticulture production
- Monitoring and evaluation of project impact
- Documentation and sharing of best practices and lessons learned
- Networking and linkage facilitation with stakeholders
- Agroecology certification for participants completing a 3-month comprehensive training
Key Results
- 120 youth trained in agroecology-based poultry and horticulture production
- Certified participants equipped with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods
- Strengthened local capacity in permaculture and climate-resilient agriculture
Safeguarding Commitment
Both organizations uphold a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse (SHEA). Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is a shared responsibility throughout the assignment.
