More than thirty (30) new extension agents enroll for the Diploma in Agroecology programme this semester

Greetings to our esteemed stakeholders and partners,

We are delighted to share with you some exciting news from Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre, the leading centre for agroecology training and research in Zimbabwe. As you may already know, we have recently launched a new diploma in agroecology, which is a two-year programme that aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and values to practise and promote sustainable agriculture that is based on ecological principles, social justice, and local food systems.

The diploma in agroecology is open to anyone who has a passion for agroecology and wants to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. We have received an overwhelming response from applicants across the country, especially from government extension agents (our key targets) who are keen to enhance their capacity and effectiveness in supporting smallholder farmers.

As part of the admission process, we are conducting entrance test interviews for the shortlisted candidates at Fambidzanai today (7 August 2023). More than thirty (30) government extension agents are taking part in this event, which is a great opportunity for us to interact with them and assess their suitability for the programme. The interviews are also a chance for the candidates to learn more about Fambidzanai, our vision, mission, and values, as well as the curriculum, structure, and expectations of the diploma in agroecology.

We are incredibly grateful to Brot fur die Welt Germany & the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries & Rural Development for their continued support and collaboration in making this programme possible. We believe that by investing in agroecology education, we are contributing to the transformation of our food systems and the empowerment of our farmers. We look forward to sharing more updates with you as the programme progresses.

Thank you and stay safe.
